Keeping it Simple

The world is our classroom.
The Fuller School of Share Knowledge (FSSK) offers a hands-on learning program from August to May for children aged 11 to 16, where knowledge is passed down by passionate instructors who feel it is their responsibility to educate the next generation and possess a unique gift to offer the world.
We aim to create a learning environment that stimulates a desire to learn, promotes critical thinking, and develops strong problem-solving skills. Our model is simple and similar to how a parent or grandparent might share their knowledge with their children or grandchildren because they love them and want to see them succeed. FSA provides an incredible opportunity for freedom, friendship, belonging, growth, and personal development.
FSA offers a well-rounded experience and exposure in science, social studies, English, mathematics, fine arts, and music through our student-led orchestra. Moreover, we believe the apprenticeship model allows for the mastery of the basics without excessive pressure on grades. If you can read and write well, there’s nothing you can’t learn, and it is essential to develop a strong math base.
We envision separate programs for boys and girls. This single-gender alternative fosters an environment where students feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and opinions while developing strong leadership skills. As we assess interest, we’ll gain clarity on which direction to pursue.
Our prerequisite for our program is a willingness to try something new or an understanding that the current schooling model is failing many students. If you are in the early stages of alternative education, we encourage you to conduct your research to determine if our straightforward approach to education aligns with your family’s educational goals. However, we are not here to convince anyone of our method. Societally, philosophical change takes time. FSA is, again, for those ready for something new. A detailed history of the evolution of this remarkable program is available on our blog, and John Holt’s books on unschooling are excellent resources for beginning to transform your relationship with education.

As a service to our school and community, we aim to be a resource for all families in Alachua County, helping them learn about educational opportunities and scholarships, such as the Florida Bright Futures program and Santa Fe College’s Dual Enrollment program, so that these opportunities are not missed.
